THE ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED MISSION

Some kids can succeed in public school, but some kids can’t.
Some of those kids can succeed in private school settings, but some can’t.

Allied Achievement created the Achievement Unlocked program in 2016 specifically to provide a third option.

Our unique educational environment is designed explicitly to meet the needs of those students across academic, socioemotional, and behavioral domains. We combine evidence-based best practice methodology, a high staff-to-student ratio, and a culture of collaboration to create a space where our students simultaneously feel both challenged and supported.

AU is also a neurodiversity positive environment, because we consider it one of our highest priorities to help students understand themselves as individuals, so that they may learn to recognize the strength inside their weaknesses, and prepare themselves with the tools of independence and self-advocacy that they will need to navigate the wider world.

AU is teaching kids advanced-level curriculums, and enlarging their mindsets. AU is supporting kids to be more flexible while allowing them to make their own choices, and stay in their comfort zones. I like going to AU because this school helps me make better choices, and teaches me things that some adults don’t know in a well explained way. It’s enlarged my vocabulary and knowledge.

ABOUT US

Founded by Brendan Wolff, Achievement Unlocked provides intensive academic content and social emotional support for unique kids.

The program was initially developed out of need. Allied Achievement began working with three families whose children were struggling after trying every school option they could find, including charter, public, gifted and talented, ICT, specialized private, and homeschooling programs.

After a successful pilot program in Spring 2016, Achievement Unlocked rolled out its full education program in September 2017, helping actualize the full potential of children who learn differently.

OUR PROGRAM

Using best practices, perseverance, and transparency, AU provides an academically challenging education focused on the social and emotional growth necessary for individuals to navigate and thrive in the world.

We know all children can learn when given the proper supports, environment, and respect for their personal learning processes. We provide differentiated education by meeting every student at their precise level of need, and providing whatever scaffolding and support is necessary for their growth.

AU’s curriculum is in alignment with the New York State Common Core and learning standards for core content areas, such as ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Also, AU develops students’ skills through Chess, American Sign Language, Drama, Art, and Physical Education.

Further, our program includes access to related services such as Counseling, Speech-Language, and Occupational Therapy.

WHAT SETS US APART

AU’s small class size and high staff ratio ensures each student receives individual attention and in-the-moment academic and behavioral support throughout the instructional day.

Tracking students’ academic and behavioral performance throughout the day enables us to identify significant trends over time in both domains, allowing us to implement scaffolding, teach strategies, and design individual interventions to develop and maintain student achievement and growth.

Our program emphasizes building self-regulation skills, and features multiple 1:1 areas that serve as safe spaces for students who need to deescalate and sensory tools for students to regulate and balance. Our students have intertwined behavioral and sensory challenges, so we foster a culture of tolerance, acceptance, and self-advocacy that explicitly reinforces students for engaging in problem solving and requesting reasonable accommodations.

We integrate sensory and behavioral support into every lesson environment at an individualized level, ensuring our students learn to implement coping strategies effectively in practical situations.
